Today we are going to talk about notifications like the ones below. To be honest, these type used to scare me, not only because they are all red, but it seems that the operating system itself is alerting the user to this danger and 3 or 5 viruses attacking your PC at the same time isn't good news.💀 DON’T CLICK IT!!

Before you panic and click every button on the notification alert, what I learned to get rid of it was:

First, check if that application or file is installed on your PC. if you don't know how to do it... no worries!! ... I will guide you step by step.

Press "Windows key" go to "settings", "Apps", "Apps & features" next, in the search bar, type the name of the application, program, or file that is emitting this alert or notification (e.g., McAfee) if it appears, uninstall or remove it from your PC.

As I mentioned before, this notification seems to be given by your operating system, the reason for this is because there are thousands of pages on the internet some ask you for permissions on specific actions (microphone use, camera, location, notifications,... among others) and some as our malevolous online scams 👹 are typically entered inadvertently, maybe you mistyped an URL, click an intrusive add or something like that, and the result of it is you just give them unaware permission to do changes in your PC.

To change this, just open the web browser (Chrome, Edge, Mozilla Firefox...) look for three dots at the top right corner, and go to "settings"

Click on "Security and Privacy" and go to "Site Settings" in case you are using Chrome.

I mostly used Edge, in case you are like me, the location of three dots and settings are the same... but you are gonna look for "Cookies and Site Permissions" in the second step.

In most cases, some people will recommend that this can be easily done by clearing your search history, with cookies, passwords and that's it. However, your cookies and sites permissions will remain the same... repeating the same problem over and over until you give up and turn out clicking those buttons and infecting your PC.

The last step is a bit strenuous 😓 because you might have several links that you haven't used, in this case, we are gonna focus on "notifications" since this is responsible for making us believe they are from our operating system, so you will have to configure their permissions to block or ask them by default.
